Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon Archives
The Saskatoon RC Diocesan Archives collects, preserves and makes accessible, with due consideration for privacy and confidentiality, the records of the bishop and the various departments, offices and agencies of the episcopal corporation. The diocesan archivist also oversees the care of parish records and provides outreach service to religious congregations and Catholic lay organizations to assist them in caring for their own records. The archival work is carried out in accordance with Canon Law, the policies of the diocese, and professional archival practice. The Saskatoon RC Diocesan Archives is part of a consortium of three Catholic archives in Saskatoon under the care of one archivist who is based at St. Thomas More College, Saskatoon.
The Saskatoon Roman Catholic Diocesan Archives collects: primarily, the non-active official records of the diocese, its agencies, institutions and offices and, secondarily, the records of some individuals and organizations which reflect the life and work of the Roman Catholic Church within the diocese of Saskatoon. Sacramental records remain in their respective parishes or, when a parish closes, are preserved in the parish of transfer or in the Chancery of the diocese.
