General note

The Town Council inspecting the erection of Derrick for drill in search for water. A hole was put down 1000 feet and was a dry at the bottom as it was at the top. At the ratepayers meeting in the following fall, the chairman of the water-works committee was asked: " What are you going to do with that dry well?" he immediately replied, "Cut it up and sell it for post holes", there were no further questions, according to the Town Engineer McArthur. Date 1910.
